Emma Turner CPsychol

Emma Turner is a Chartered Occupational and Coaching Psychologist providing executive and leadership coaching to senior leaders working in complex organisational contexts.

Her work is grounded in evidence-based psychological practice and informed by extensive experience supporting leaders across public, private and regulated environments. Coaching is delivered through clearly defined engagements and within robust professional, ethical and confidentiality boundaries.

Professional background

Emma completed her psychology degree in 1990, her MSc in Occupational Psychology in 1994, and achieved Chartered status in 2000. She is Chartered with the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.

Over more than three decades, Emma has worked extensively in the assessment and development of senior leaders, including leadership assessment, feedback, development design and executive coaching. Since 2016, she has coached senior civil servants and other senior leaders through formal organisational frameworks, alongside work with leaders in commercial and professional settings.

This breadth of experience informs a deep understanding of what effective leadership looks like in practice, particularly in environments characterised by complexity, scrutiny and competing demands.

Approach to coaching

Emma’s approach is thoughtful, evidence-informed and pragmatic. Coaching provides structured, confidential space for leaders to reflect, test judgement and consider how they are exercising their role within the wider system.

The work is rarely about fixing problems. More often it supports capable, experienced leaders to navigate complexity, think clearly under pressure, and make deliberate choices about how they lead.

Psychological theory, behavioural science and reflective models inform the work, but tools are used selectively and only where they add value. There is no fixed programme or methodology; the focus is shaped by the leader’s role, context and responsibilities.

Professional standards and ethics

As a Chartered and HCPC-registered psychologist, Emma’s work is governed by professional standards and ethical codes. This includes careful contracting, informed consent, confidentiality, and the appropriate use of psychological tools.

Where coaching is sponsored by an organisation, Emma works with awareness of organisational context while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of the coaching relationship.
